To be or not to be: to migrate our IT infrastructure and applications to the cloud or to keep it on premise? Few organizations are now in a position to indefinitely hold off from engaging with this question.

In fact, we are approaching something of an inflection point. In the past, organizations could have disputed if the benefits of cloud computing were real, or whether software as a service (SaaS) applications had value. Now, the question for IT is not as much whether cloud is feasible, but how best to take advantage of cloud-based services. Looming large in these discussions are, of course, security concerns. Of equal importance are privacy concerns and regulations involved in storing and processing data in the cloud: including SOX, GLBA, PCI and HIPAA-HITECH, among others. Even as providers work to better secure and monitor their cloud environments, the responsibility for protecting and maintaining control of their data lies with the customer.

“Although Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM can help compliance, the ultimate responsibility for using our service and end-to-end compliance with HIPAA and the HITECH Act remains with the covered entity.”

Can organizations with compelling business reasons still move to the cloud and maintain control of their data?

This is exactly the customer challenge that Vaultive directly addresses.

“Companies such as Vaultive are creating technologies that enable these capabilities [storing sensitive information in the cloud] to become a reality”

Vaultive’s unique solution utilizes a proxy that seamlessly encrypts your data using standard 256-bit AES encryption before it leaves your trusted network, maintaining encryption for the entire duration of your data’s stay at the service provider – while preserving characteristics of the data so that it can be searched, sorted, and indexed. You hold the encryption keys – the keys are never entrusted to the service provider or to Vaultive – so that you maintain complete ownership and control over your data throughout its entire lifecycle.
